PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - One of the hundreds of artists at the Ignite Peoria festival at Peoria Civic Center was Valencia Davis, who lost her vision after a stroke in 2016. She started painting to cope with her new reality.

In her third year at the festival, her booth was a bright and colorful. Davis loves to make abstract art and play with different hues. She is also inspired by oceans and storms, trying to evoke a sense of movement in many of her pieces.

Davis uses glow paint that shows up under a black light for much of her work. This makes the paintings look different depending on their lighting environments.

Since she can’t see her pieces, she enjoys hearing others’ reactions to them.
