The long-anticipated 127 Yard Sale, billed as the "World's Longest Yard Sale," started Thursday and runs through Sunday.

The multi-state event starts near Addison, MI and winds southward, terminating in Gadsden, AL, covering 690 miles, filled with deals, bargains and stuff you can't live without.

The 127 Yard Sale began in 1987 as a way to lure travelers from nearby Interstates 40 and 75 to venture through smaller, perhaps more scenic towns. Along the way, state parks and historical attractions offer yet another pleasant distraction for travelers.

Lookout Mountain Parkway was added to the route several years after the 127 Yard Sale began, and it is a popular spot for many because of the roadway's vistas and overlooks.
