Pet waste management is now a $300 million industry that is filled with individual business owners and national franchises.

One of the industry's organizations, the Association of Professional Animal Waste Specialists, hosts an annual Pooper Scooper Convention (this year it's in Dallas) with one of the highlights being a "turd herding competition" to see who has the fastest method of picking up poop.
