Opening Day at Dare County Early College

A post on the Dare County School Facebook page wished a “Happy first day to the first class of Dare Early College students! Today is just the beginning.” And on Aug. 7, The Dare Early College on the COA Dare campus opened its doors to that inaugural group of 58 ninth graders, starting a new chapter in public education in the county.

But while Dare County’s Early College is brand new, it joins the ranks of the 134 early colleges that are currently operating in 83 of North Carolina’s 100 counties.
