Dare Board moves forward on $40K grant for A250 Anniversary celebration

At the Aug. 4 Dare Commissioners meeting, the county’s A250 Committee received approval to submit a $40,000 Event Grant application to the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau in preparation for the A250 Anniversary Celebration on April 18, 2026 at the Wright Brothers National Memorial.

That Committee was formed in November 2024 as part of a national initiative to commemorate the signing of the Declaration of Independence. As a signature event, the Anniversary Celebration will feature interactive exhibits and heritage display, art, food vendors and musical performances, Dorothy Hester, co-chair of the A250 Committee, told commissioners at the Aug. 4 meeting.
