MUSKEGON COUNTY, MI – A 20-year-old driver died after he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into trees, Michigan State Police reported.

The driver, a Muskegon Township man, was not immediately identified as the crash remains under investigation.

Troopers responded to the scene sometime Sunday, Aug. 10, on Russell Road south of Bard Road in Muskegon County.

Police said the man was traveling south on Russell Road when his vehicle left the road and crashed into the trees on the east side of the road.

The man was declared deceased on scene.

Police said speed and weather conditions may have been contributing factors in the crash.

“Please keep this family in your thoughts during this tragic time,” state police wrote on X .
