RUSH CITY, Minn. — Four correctional officers were injured after an attack at the Minnesota Correctional Facility-Rush City on Saturday.
Authorities report that one of the inmates attacked officers at approximately 3:20 p.m. during the routine cell searches.
Facility staff said they had a reason to believe he had homemade alcohol in his cell. When officers approached the inmate, he attacked staff with a makeshift weapon, according to the press release.
During the confrontation, one of the officers sustained a puncture wound and is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital. He is expected to fully recover. The three officers, who restrained the individual, were taken to the hospital for assessment, but have been released since.
