CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. (WWSB) - Citrus County Fire says a lightning strike was to blame for a Friday afternoon house fire in Crystal River.
CCFR said they received the call at 4:09 P.M. to W. Jehle Court in Crystal River.
Crews report seeing heavy smoke coming from the two-story wood-frame home.
The homeowner said they heard a lightning strike just before seeing smoke and fire near the kitchen and the laundry room.
CCFR had the fire under control by 4:28 P.M., no injuries were reported.
Citrus County Fire Rescue wants to remind homeowners not to use electrical appliances or plumbing during thunderstorms, and to evacuate immediately and call 911 if they think their house may have been struck by lightning.
