Standout rookie cornerback Upton Stout has made waves with his training camp performance, but the 49ers Faithful will have to wait at least another week to see him make his NFL preseason debut.

Stout missed San Francisco's 30-9 loss to the Denver Broncos, which 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan clarified was a result of a calf injury while speaking to the media after Saturday's preseason defeat.

"His calf was tight, we were kind of cautious with him," Shanahan told reporters.

After being selected No. 100 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft, Stout quickly made an impression his new team with what 49ers general manager John Lynch described as the "best" draft call he has ever been a part of.
