LYON COUNTY, Nev. (KOLO) - The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office and the Search and Rescue team continue to search for a person who was calling for help and then disappeared in Lake Lahontan on Saturday, Aug. 9, according to a Sunday, Aug. 10, news release from Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Mitch Brantingham.

On Saturday at 4:56 p.m., deputies went to Lake Lahontan in the Silver Springs area after a report of a distressed person who disappeared under the water.

Deputies confirmed the report was legitimate and immediately began a search, Brantingham said.

They searched into the night.

Deputies remained on scene overnight.

While the search continues, the public is asked to avoid “the Channel” and “Fisherman’s Point”.
