1-year-old boy dies after being pulled from pool in West Valley

GOODYEAR, Ariz. — A 1-year-old boy is dead after being pulled from a backyard pool in the West Valley, authorities said.

Avondale fire crews responded to a home in Goodyear near Palo Verde Drive and Van Buren Street to find a 1-year-old boy who had been pulled from a backyard swimming pool.

The fire crews treated and took the boy to a hospital in critical condition. He later died, police said.

Goodyear police will be continuing the investigation, authorities said.
