Ottawa firefighters responded to a fire at a house and barn on First Line Road on Sunday evening. The fire was reported at 5:38 p.m. when multiple calls alerted authorities to flames and black smoke visible from the property.

Upon arrival at the scene, located in the 5000 block of First Line Road, firefighters initiated a rapid response. They called for additional resources and began a "fast attack" by advancing a hose line into the home. Due to the absence of fire hydrants in the area, a water shuttle system was implemented to transport water to the site.

By 6:39 p.m., firefighters had the blaze under control. They conducted two thorough searches of the home and confirmed that no occupants were inside. A fire services investigator was dispatched to the scene to determine the cause and origin of the fire.

The incident highlights the challenges faced by firefighters in rural areas where water supply can be limited. The investigation into the fire's cause is ongoing.
