ST. GEORGE, Maine (WMTW) - A celebration of life was held Sunday for Sunshine “Sunny” Stewart, the 48-year-old woman who was found dead last month after going missing while paddleboarding.
The day began with a boat procession in Tenants Harbor and concluded near High Island. Community members, friends, and family were invited to participate in the tribute on the water.
Following the procession, a potluck gathering was held at Great Eastern Mussel Farm in the afternoon.
Stewart went missing in July after she was last seen paddleboarding on Crawford Pond in Union. Her body was later recovered.
A 17-year-old boy has been charged in connection with her death and is scheduled to appear in court later this month.
