SEPTA has set a deadline of Aug. 14, 2025 , as the last day that the mass transit provider can wait to secure funding to address its $213 million budget deficit.
Without that funding, SEPTA plans to cut services across the board by about 20% on Aug. 24, 2025.

On that day, just one day before schools start for children throughout Philadelphia, SEPTA is slated to raise fares and cut bus and rail service by 20%and it will follow this with cuts to up to 45% of services by the end of the year.
But, before then, legislators in Harrisburg are making a push to get SEPTA -- and other mass transit providers -- additional funds in an effort to prevent the looming service cuts.
