MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) -- Three areas of interest in the Atlantic as of 8 AM Monday. One in the central Atlantic poses no threat to the US and will push due north. The other, close to the US, is also a low-interest area and will not a tropical, but will funnel rain potentially into Nova Scotia.
The third area is a wave off the coast of Africa, which has been organizing during the overnight hours. It is likely to be a tropical depression later today and Tropical Storm Erin by the middle of the week.
This is likely to strengthen into the first hurricane of the 2025 season. For the next 7 days, this area will track west, and early next week, we are anticipating a turn to the northeast and most likely out to sea. The question is how close this will track to the East Coast before making th
