GRAND BLANC TWP, MI – More than a dozen firefighters, including some doing training, helped put out a house blaze this weekend in Grand Blanc Township.

Crew responded on the morning of Saturday, Aug. 9, for a reported structure fire in the 8000 block of Dungarvin Drive.

Some of the responding firefighters were engaged in training, focused on forcible entry, ladder placement, offensive fire attack, and hose deployment, according to a news release from Grand Blanc Township fire Chief Jamie Jent.

The first crew of four firefighters were able to respond in less than six minutes. They encountered a working structure fire “in extreme heat and challenging hoarding conditions, with reports of a possible occupant inside,” per the release.

Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control.
