MINOT, N.D. (KFYR) - A vehicle parked in front of a fire hydrant delayed Minot firefighters from putting out a fire that started to spread towards a nearby home.

Fire crews responded to the call on Aug. 10 at 2:34 a.m. in the 600 block of 7th Street Southwest.

The first engine began extinguishing the burning materials as a second unit was instructed to help. The only hydrant available was blocked by the parked vehicle, preventing crews from accessing it. Firefighters transferred water from another truck and put out the fire before it reached the home.

Police cited the vehicle’s owner for blocking the hydrant.
