Alton Towers Resorts theme park

Part of Alton Towers was evacuated this afternoon (Monday, August 11) after a fire broke out in one of the toilets. The incident took place at around 3pm with guests reporting they had been evacuated from the Forbidden Valley area of the busy theme park, where Nemesis Reborn and Galactica is based.

It is one of the busiest times of the year for the Staffordshire theme park, with thousands of families visiting each week during the six-week summer holidays. A spokesperson for Alton Towers told The Mirror that a "small, contained fire" had broken out in a toilet facility, with the surrounding area temporarily evacuated as a precautionary measure.
