A busy road in Nottingham city centre closed off for repairs to a 'complex' sinkhole could stay shut for at least another 11 days - more than a month after it was first closed.
Upper Parliament Street is set to remain closed for a while longer due to an underground sinkhole caused by a collapsed water pipe . The road was closed on July 23, between Tollhouse Hill and Hurts Yard, after the sinkhole was discovered while a sewer blockage was being investigated .
The major city road began to sink due to a water culvert that had crumbled underneath, causing a string of diversions for buses and motorists, who are currently using Market Street and Angel Row as a diversion route.
