A 22-year-old woman was transported to hospital after being struck by what appeared to be an open, partially consumed can of beer that was allegedly thrown from a passing pickup truck in the Lake Cowichan area, according to RCMP.

Lake Cowichan RCMP was called to the area of Youbou and Meades Creek roads late Saturday, around 11:45 p.m., for a report of an assault.

The incident happened not far from Laketown Ranch, where the 2025 Laketown Shakedown music festival was in its final night.

“The woman apparently suffered a medical emergency but was revived through life-saving first aid on scene before being transported to hospital for treatment,” where she remained “in stable condition” as of 2:30 a.m. Sunday, RCMP said in a statement.

“The investigation is ongoing,” Mounties added.
