LOUISVILLE, Ky. — More than 12,000 packages of sugar cookies sold at Target stores in 20 states, including Kentucky and Indiana, were recalled because they could contain pieces of wood.

The recall , dated July 22, applies to 10-count packages of Favorite Day Bakery Frosted Sugar Cookies produced by the Give and Go Prepared Foods Corp of Etobicoke, Canada, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The reason for the recall was listed as “foreign material (wood).” Around 800 cases were sold.

On Aug. 4, the FDA categorized the recall as a Class II, meaning the use of the recalled product “may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences,” even if “the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”
