WASHINGTON — As police continue to search for the person who shot and killed a man outside a D.C. hotel last week, the family is asking for help to raise funds to celebrate the victim's life and lay him to rest.

Just after 11 p.m. on Aug. 3, officers were called to the parking garage of DC's Yotel in the 400 block of New Jersey Avenue Northwest for a reported shooting. Once on scene, they found a man shot several times. The man was taken to an area hospital for treatment, but was pronounced dead.

Family and investigators have identified the man killed as 27-year-old Akim Toure of Riverdale, Maryland. Someone who identified themselves as Toure's cousin said he was trying to help someone else when he was shot, but detectives have not yet released details about the circumstances of the de
