LEBANON, Ore. – Lebanon fire crews were dispatched on Saturday to a large vegetation fire in the area of Green Mountain Drive, according to Lebanon Fire District officials.
Fire authorities said that crews arrived to find tall grass burning rapidly in windy conditions, with multiple structures threatened. Firefighters from Lebanon and Scio Fire Districts, along with Oregon Department of Forestry, worked quickly to stop the fire’s spread. The blaze grew to approximately 3.5 acres before being contained. No structures were lost, and no injuries were reported. The fire was caused by a property owner using a weed burner to clean a burn ring, which escaped due to wind. The incident was turned over to ODF for follow-up.
