SYDENHAM —It took firefighters from three municipalities almost eight hours to extinguish a wildfire along Rutledge Road Sunday afternoon.
South Frontenac Township firefighters responded to the fire around 1:25 p.m.

The fire was caused by farm equipment operating in a field.
“They had an issue with the tractor that started a fire and they were trying to put it out but not having a lot of success and with the dry conditions and the high winds, the fire like really took off,” said South Frontenac Fire Chief Delbert Blakney.
The fire eventually burned about 20 acres and the response to it drew in tankers and wildfire units from Stone Mills Township and Kingston.
