MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KREX) - A man is behind bars after law enforcement responded to a verbal incident call over the weekend.
According to the Mesa County Sheriff's Office, deputies arrived ta home on Monument Village Circle. Once on the scene, deputies spoke with an adult female at the house who said the suspect, Austin Hays, 31, allegedly tried to strangle her during an argument while a child was present.
Hays was arrested and charged with two counts of second-degree assault with intent to cause bodily harm by strangulation, domestic violence and child abuse knowingly or recklessly without injury.
Hays was in court on Monday. His bond was set at $10,000 cash-only.
