ROBESON COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) -- President Donald Trump on July 16 signed the "HALT" Fentanyl Act that classifies all fentanyl-related drugs as a high potential for abuse, something Robeson County Sheriff Burnis Wilkins called a "major victory."
Wilkins called it a major victory in their fight against one of the deadliest drugs in the county -- and the nation. He said fentanyl has devastated too many families in Robeson County, and that the new law will help them pursue cases more effectively in the federal system.
"A county such as this, that has been devastated by this, we needed this," Wilkins said. "It should've been done a long time ago. Anything that can help regulate the possession, the use, the trafficking of it, we need that."
