KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Hundreds gathered at Children's Mercy Park Monday to celebrate the life and honor the legacy of Wyandotte County Deputy Elijah Ming.

Police departments and sheriff's offices from both sides of the state line, and even beyond the metro, showed their support Monday morning. Agencies from Andover to Baesor, the Kansas Highway Patrol, Hutchinson, Ottawa and many others were present.

Several people shared stories of who Ming was outside of being a law enforcement member. He was also a father, husband, son and friend.

The obituary for Elijah La'Mose Ming Sr., said he was born in Los Angeles, California. Within a few years, he and his family moved to Kansas City, Kansas. It also highlighted his education, his caring personality, his athleticism, his family, and his faith.
