WAUPACA, Wis. (WBAY) - It’s been three years since Tony Haase was arrested and charged with the murders of Tanna Togstad and Tim Mumbrue.
Monday morning, after four days of deliberating, a jury voted not guilty on all counts related to these crimes.
The couple was found stabbed to death in Togstad’s home in the Town of Royalton in March of 1992. Prosecutors said DNA placed Haase at the scene and matched samples recovered from Togstad’s body.
The defense raised doubts on whether Haase gave a false confession and named another possible suspect, Jeffrey Thiel, Haase’s uncle. He was not charged in connection with the case and died by suicide in 1995.
