MARTINSVILLE, Va. (WDBJ) - “This is just the end of one marathon and the beginning of another that’s twice as long”
Martinsville City Councilman Aaron Rawls made his feelings clear following Thursday’s vote to fire City Manager Aretha Ferrell-Benavides.
The search for her replacement could cost them close to $215 thousand, a price Ferrell-Benavides’ salary was raised to before she was fired.
“I think that that has to be noted because there was a huge contention amongst two council members to say that that’s too much but if you follow them now they’re saying well hey that’s that’s a good pay and I think that’s where we’re probably going to have to start or is around the 215 mark,” Mayor LC Jones said.
