SEOUL, Aug. 12 (UPI) -- South Korea's leading telecom operator, KT, reported the company more than doubled its profit during the second quarter of 2025 from a year before.

Its operating income during the April-June period amounted to $730 million, up 105.4% from a year ago, for sales of $5.35 billion, up 13.5%.

KT said Monday that it chalked up solid growth throughout its business portfolio, including mobile telephone, high-speed Internet, media and artificial intelligence services.

The company said the number of its fifth-generation mobile customers jumped 7.7% to 10.87 million, in large part because of the security crisis that involved rival SK Telecom this year.
