A new community hub could be created in Rouken Glen Park, as plans to launch a funding bid are considered.

Government cash is set to be requested for a project which would see the former Young Enterprise Scotland training centre in the park repurposed.

Cabinet members at East Renfrewshire Council will be asked to approve an application to the Scottish Government’s regeneration capital grant fund on Thursday.

A report to councillors states the vision is to “transform the vacant training centre over time into a pioneering community well-being and enterprise hub”.

The project would include the development of a new entrance zone from the park, a central learning area for “employability partners, schools and other educational groups” and space for entrepreneurs, start-ups and community
