Coventry and Warwickshire are among the 'most promising' places to see Perseid meteor shower 2025 tonight. The Met Office has said that central England and Wales offer the 'most promising conditions' for uninterrupted viewing.

Known as one of the most prolific and visually striking annual celestial events, the meteor shower reaches its peak tonight, the Met Office has explained.

It has been active since 17 July and will continue until 24 August, but the night of August 12 to 13 marks the period of greatest activity.

"The Perseids occur as Earth passes through the trail of debris left by the comet Swift-Tuttle," a Met Office post on X explained. "As these fragments enter the atmosphere, they burn brightly, creating the familiar streaks of light across the night sky."
