A commissioned art piece by Indigenous artist Jackie Traverse will grace the wall of the aquatic centre in the Kitchener indoor recreation complex at RBJ Schlegel Park.
The city’s finance and corporate services committee gave its approval Monday to the piece, titled “Gidinawendimin,” an Anishinaabe word meaning “We are all related,” which will span the wall at the end of the pool. The piece, which depicts waves interwoven with the watery silhouettes of four women, will be made up of more than 200,000 glass tiles.
