This week, a new billing cycle begins under the new City of Emporia Utility Billing System. The cycle, according to a written release by the City of Emporia, will be 38 days instead of 30, to account for time adjustments during the switchover and a delay in meter readings.
The due date for payments has been extended to Sept. 2. No late fees will be charged between August 4 and August 15. During this period, there will be no water-shutoffs. Emporia residents will be charged for a shorter period in September, and return to a regular billing cycle in October.
Those who filed Autopay-Bank Statements in the City of Emporia office do not need to take any action. Residents who have used Autopay-Bank Statements through an old enrollment portal will need to re-enroll at emporiaks.gov/utilitybill
