MOUNDS, Ill. (WSIL) -- UPDATE: August 12, 1:34 p.m. -- The boil water advisory has been lifted.
ORIGINAL: August 11, 1:40 p.m. -- The City of Mounds has issued a boil water advisory on Monday.
On August 11, an Alderperson with the City of Mounds stated the boil water advisory was issued for the entire community and until further notice.
During a boil water order, the CDC recommends bringing water to a full rolling boil for one minute, or three minutes at elevations above 6,500 feet. Then allow the water to cool before using it.
When washing hands with tap water during a boil-water order, it's recommended to use soap and water, then use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer and let them air dry.
