MERIDEN, Conn. — Around 100 headstones and monuments at the St. Patrick's Cemetery were found to be damaged from vandalism, and now Meriden police are searching for those responsible.
Meriden police said officers conducted a walkthrough of St. Patrick's on Wall Street after receiving several calls from citizens on Tuesday morning regarding the damage.
Police found that nearly 100 headstones and monuments were damaged; some of the headstones that date back to the 1800s were cracked in half, and police don't believe they can be fully repaired.
