UTICA, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV) -- Today is the third day in a row of 90-plus-degree heat, marking the first official heat wave of this summer here in the Mohawk Valley! As of the time of this writeup (around 3 pm Tuesday), the high so far today is 91 degrees, which not only breaks the previous daily high temperature record of 89 from August 12, 2016, but also pushes our tally of 90-plus-degree days for this summer to 10. To put that into perspective, the annual average amount of 90-plus-degree days is 5, so now we've doubled that.
An uptick in the humidity will arrive tonight into tomorrow in advance of an approaching cold front. Tonight, we'll see mainly clear skies with overnight lows around 70 degrees
