KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The City of Knoxville has implemented new changes to the way people navigate Old City. From reduced parking fees to opening streets, business owners say it is a win for them.

“I do think that it's only going to get better, I mean, we just had a slight speed bump,” said Bethie Lou’s Fabulous Gift Store owner Beth MacDonald. “And they quit closing Central [Street] and they've quit making the Jackson Avenue one-way except right in front of the stadium, so it's all positive.”

MacDonald said when Covenant Health Park first opened, being an Old City merchant was hard.

“A lot of people got very, nervous, antsy, angry, scared. Scared that people weren't going to be coming into the Old City, only coming in for a game,” she said.

But now she said they are seeing improve
