MISSION, Kan. (KCTV) - Members of the Shawnee Police Department’s K-9 Unit made a visit to the veterinarians and staff who cared for one of their own on Tuesday.

A visit to the Mission Veterinary Emergency & Specialty on Tuesday allowed members of the unit an opportunity to thank staff who cared for K-9 Dagger after a stabbing incident on Aug. 5.

“Thanks to the team’s expertise and dedication, K-9 Dagger is healing and on track to return to full duty,” the Shawnee Police Department said. “We appreciate all that (they) do!”

The good news for K-9 Dagger follows charges that were filed Thursday against Edwin Perez. The Wyandotte County District Attorney’s Office filed charges for felony aggravated robbery, felony interference with law enforcement and felony harming or killing certain dogs
