A 3-year-old girl was found dead inside a vehicle in Milford, Maine, after members of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office responded to a local business’s 911 call.

The child’s mother, Kelly Brown, 40, of Havertown, Pennsylvania, was arrested by the Maine State Police and charged with manslaughter around 5 a.m. Sunday.

Brown, who owned the car, was found near the vehicle and detained by law enforcement. She was booked at the Penobscot County jail pending her appearance at the Penobscot Judicial Center.

Concerned family members had previously asked law enforcement to locate and perform a wellness check for Brown and her child.
