SOUTH HERO, Vt. (WCAX) - Officials in South Hero late Tuesday said their water system is fixed. It comes after the town for the past two days asked residents to conserve water after supplies there were dangerously low.
South Hero residents were Monday to turn off that tap so the town doesn’t run out of drinking water.
“This is not good,” said Ken Little when we spoke to him earlier Tuesday. He sits on the board of the Fourth Fire District and said more water was going out of their system than coming in. They are not clear on the exact cause, but say the problem has been exacerbated by the scorching temperatures this week and more people using water. “We are probably running in the extreme -- 40 gallons a minute more output than usual.
