ANDERSON, Ind. — Gun shops in Indiana and across the country have a new tool to spot stolen firearms .

It's a simple computer entry that can prevent stolen guns from being re-sold and ending up on the streets.

At Gunslingers in Anderson, owners are excited about the new way to target safety and see if guns brought in to sell are actually stolen.

Just last week, they got the ability to search a serial number right in-store before a buy. It follows a law passed in 2022 that got rolled out Aug. 4 of this year.

Gunslingers co-owner John Beeman, who is also the Madison County sheriff, calls this a crucial change for the secondary market.
