(FOX40.COM) — The Fanny Bridge will be closed until November 3 for demolition of the existing structure and construction of a new bridge, Placer County said.

“The new bridge is sure to be a crown jewel for Tahoe City,” engineering manager for Placer County’s Tahoe Engineering Division, Seth Warren, said.

The new bridge will be single-span and won't have piers in the river, according to Placer County. Sidewalks and bike lanes will be on either side of the bridge, which will also have a similar railing to the existing Fanny Bridge.
