GILBERT, AZ (AZFamily) — A possible family fight led to a deadly shooting at a motel in Gilbert on Tuesday night.

Police said officers were called out to the InTown Suites Extended Stay near Country Club Drive and Guadalupe Road . When they arrived, they found a woman who had been shot. She was taken to the hospital, where she later died.

Police said they approached the suspect but he retreated into a room and started a standoff with officers. Shortly after, Gilbert PD’s tactical team arrived at the extended stay. Eventually, the suspect came out with no other problems and was arrested.

Investigators said that before the shooting, the woman and her husband arrived at the motel and the suspect came up to them. There was some ongoing feud between them and that’s what led up to the guns
