BURLINGTON, Iowa (KWQC) - A Burlington man is in the hospital in Iowa City after being caught in a bonfire explosion.
On what should have been a normal night, PJ Jones says his life was turned upside down in an instant.
PJ and his girlfriend were spending time at his boss’ house. That’s when PJ went to start a fire, something he had done plenty of times before, but on Aug. 6, everything went wrong.
PJ was tragically caught in a bonfire explosion, leaving him with severe burns on over 25% of his body—including painful second- and third-degree burns.
“So far, every day. It gets worse. Every day the pain gets worse. Every day the burns get worse,” Jones said.
