Road safety experts have proposed a "maximum driving age" with road users compelled to surrender their licences beyond a particular age.

Britain currently has no strict regulation regarding when motorists must relinquish their driving licence , instead depending on individuals to surrender their photocard when they no longer feel confident behind the wheel.

Labour is reportedly examining a clampdown on traffic regulations , including implementing compulsory vision tests for those over 70.

Nevertheless, officials are not thought to be considering a maximum age threshold for licences , though campaigners regard this as the ideal approach.
