STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — When Megi Xhemali, a 37-year-old mother of two from New Springville, found herself at a crossroads after her divorce, she turned to what she knew best: cooking and catering.
That decision led her to open Argjiro’s Corner in Travis in January 2023, joining several other similar Albanian markets in the borough.
Xhemali’s dedication to her market is evident in the long hours she spends there, likening it to a committed relationship and jokingly referring to the business as her “boyfriend.”
