A report from the National Weather Service was issued on Wednesday at 7:22 p.m. for strong thunderstorms until 8 p.m. for Queens as well as Suffolk and Nassau counties.

Wind gusts of up to 40 mph and pea-sized hail (0.25 inches) are foreseen.

"At 7:22 p.m., Doppler radar tracked a strong thunderstorm over Jamaica, moving east at 45 mph," says the weather service. "Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor objects is possible."

Locations impacted by the alert include Islip, Brentwood, Levittown, Freeport, Valley Stream, Commack, Long Beach, Huntington Station, Deer Park, Lindenhurst, Glen Cove, Plainview, Garden City, Massapequa and Hauppauge.
