A report from the National Weather Service was issued on Wednesday at 4:24 p.m. for strong thunderstorms until 5:30 p.m. for Dutchess County.

The storms could bring wind gusts of up to 50 mph and penny-sized hail (0.75 inches).

"At 4:23 p.m., Doppler radar tracked a strong thunderstorm near Dover Plains, or 9 miles north of Pawling, moving northeast at 25 mph," says the weather service. "Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible."

Locations impacted by the alert include Torrington, New Milford, Pawling, Thomaston, Kent, Litchfield, Northwest Harwinton, Gaylordsville, New Preston, Cornwall Bridge, Wingdale, Dover Plains, Plymouth, Harwinton, Bethlehem, Washington, Goshen, Morris, Warren and Cornwall.
