For the first time since opening his first restaurant in 2012, Suman Hoque is a vendor at the Iowa State Fair .

The Des Moines restaurateur — a Bangladesh native who operates HoQ in the East Village and Flora in the Des Moines Botanical Center — got a little help through the Choose Iowa state brand to operate a trailer here. The effort, housed under the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, identifies food, beverages and agricultural products from Iowa.

HoQ's lamb wrap uses Iowa-raised lamb tossed in a tomato cream sauce and is served with basmati rice, a turmeric crème fraîche and local kale on homemade naan.

The program previously awarded him a grant that helped him buy a delivery vehicle, cooler and freezer and helped him sell HoQ's popular breakfast wraps in place
